Bhaktraj Shree Bhaguji

The most brave and heroic among Parshads, Bhaguji, was born in the village of Moras in Rajasthan. By birth, he was a Rajput. Bhaguji possessed a natural love for Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan and an innate bravery.

Once, Sukhanand Swami traveled to Rajasthan to spread the message of Satsang. Bhaguji met Sukhanand Swami, and upon doing Sant samagam, the seed of spiritual seeking within him began to flourish. He made a firm commitment to meet Shreeji Maharaj.

Upon having the first darshan of Maharaj in Siddhpur, the flames of vairagya ignited within his consciousness. He prayed to Maharaj, “Please keep me in Your seva.” Pleased with him, Maharaj kept him as His personal bodyguard. His physical strength and mental fortitude were so unparalleled that even the brave Kathis of Kathiawad were unable to lock eyes with the heroic Bhaguji. Numerous accounts illustrating Bhaguji’s love for Maharaj, his obedience to His commands, and his bravery are spread across countless pages of the Sampraday’s history.

When a dispute arose with Bhan Khachar regarding the Manavadar estate, Maharaj sent Parshads and Bhaguji to protect the field. At that time, a fierce and terrifying battle took place with two Sindhis named Khabad and Mataro. Bhaguji demonstrated the prowess of his might. During that encounter, Bhaguji sustained eighteen life-threatening wounds, yet he endured them all and defeated the enemy.

Remaining ever close to Maharaj, he performed continuous seva according to the inner wishes of Maharaj. To test him, Maharaj rebuked him many times, yet through his singular devotion, his conviction in the divinity of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan never wavered. After Maharaj returned to Akshardham, Bhaguji stayed with Brahmanand Swami and spent the remainder of his life in Muli.

The echoes of the heroic saga of brave souls like Bhaguji—who remained steadfast on the spiritual path—will continue to resonate even amidst the clutches of time, providing a glimpse into the memory of his bhakti and bravery
