Vipra Shree Krupashankar was one of the most beloved Brahmins of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan. He was from the village Umreth, which was famously known as “Chhoti Kashi” (Little Kashi). Krupashankar stood out among all the Brahmins because his life was very simple, straightforward, and centered on devotion to bhawan. Due to his natural love for Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan, he possessed noble virtues such as humility, discernment, patience, and atma-nishtha.
Whenever Shreeji Maharaj performed rituals like yagnas, Krupashankar served as the head Brahmin. During the murti-pratishtha yagna in Vadtal, he was appointed to the position of Brahma (supervisor of the entire yagna). Viharilalji Maharaj has noted this in the Harililamrut:
“Krupa Shankar e ja vidvan, tenu varun karyu Brahmasthan”
After Raghuvirji Maharaj was established as the first Gadi, he celebrated the first Annakut festival in Vartal following the command of Shreeji Maharaj. For this occasion, all the skilled Brahmacharis were invited to prepare appropriate sweets in milk for the Annakut उत्सव. Krupashankar was prominent among them and served in the Annakut preparations. He kept the inclinations of his mind constantly fixed upon Shreeji Maharaj.By remaining an exclusive refugee of Shreeji Maharaj and serving the Satsang, Santos, and devotees with a selfless and pure heart, Krupashankar earned a place in the heart of Maharaj. Therefore, millions of prostrations to this great devotee.
