Viharilalji Maharaj

Acharya Shree Viharilalji Maharaj was born on Chaitra Amas V.S. 1908 (April 19, 1852) in a village called Duboli in Uttar Pradesh to Krishnaprasadji and Chaturdashi Devi. At the age of 8, he moved to Vadtal where he received his Yagnopavit Sanskar and studied the Vedas. Later he received his Gurumantra and Diksha from Acharya Shree Raghuviriji Maharaj.

On Shravan Vad 3, Acharya Shree Bhagwatprasadji Maharaj had anointed him as Acharya and he remained Acharya for 20 years. Viharilalji Maharaj always carried the ‘Acharyapad’ faithfully and fulfilled the duty of a true guru to make his disciples safe in the path of Moksh.

Viharilalji Maharaj made improvements in the Sanskrit school that was established in Vadtal by his predecessors. He also composed the Harililamrut. He had also started storytelling to the public and would go to Parayans of the Shrimad Satsangi Jivan conducted by Santos and listen.

This led to Viharilalji Maharaj’s accelerated work of shastras in the Sampraday and construction of temples. There were many different idols and prasadi objects placed in various places such as a Kalash in Junagadh mandir, Charnarvind in Dholera, Shree Ghanshyam Maharaj and Dharma-Bhakti in Surat, Shree Vasudev and Shree Dharma-Bhakti in Bharuch, and murtis in Laxmivadi (Gadhada).

Viharilalji Maharaj had collected the various invaluable things of Shreeji Maharaj such as Nakhkesh, Asthi (ashes), Charnarvind (footprints), necklaces, crowns, jewelry, clothing, quilts, chakhdis, utensils, and much more. In order to preserve these objects, Akshar Bhuvan was built in Vadtal, next to the temple.

This building leaves a mark in the heart of every haribhakt and is worshiped by thousands of haribhakto and hundreds of saints. This deed done by
Viharilalji Maharaj has become the most memorable to everyone. On Bhadarva Sud 8 – Samvat 1955 (Sept 27th, 1899) Viharilalji Maharaj returned to Akshardham.
