In the third Vachanamrut of Loya, Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan Himself bestows the title of a devotee possessing firm conviction coupled with the knowledge of His glory (mahatmya-gnan) upon the great Bhaktraj Shree Galuji. A resident of the village of Dadusar in the Mehmadabad region, Galuji was a Kathi by caste, yet he lived with the purity of a Brahmin in his endeavor to please Maharaj. Even Maharaj could not fully repay the value of his loyalty and bhakti; hence, Shreeji Maharaj would constantly look after him.
Once, during some twilight hours, a messenger arrived and delivered a letter to Galuji stating that Maharaj had summoned him to Vadtal immediately with all his household belongings packed in a cart. Without a second thought, Galuji loaded everything onto his cart and set out for Vadtal. That very midnight, a group of the Garasia tribe arrived with unsheathed swords to settle an old vendetta and challenged Galuji. His elderly mother told them, “Swaminarayan Bhagwan has summoned him to Vadtal with all household goods, and he has already departed.” The attackers were stunned. This became a living example of the proverb, “Whom God protects, none can harm.” Ultimately, they confessed their ill intentions to the mother, expressed their regret, and turned back.
Maharaj sent Galuji back home the following day. When he returned and heard the account from his mother’s lips, tears welled up in his eyes. On another occasion, when Maharaj visited, Galuji’s mother passed away just as He arrived. Galuji wrapped her body in a cloth, placed it aside, and proceeded to welcome Maharaj with great enthusiasm, partaking in the bliss of satsang. Finally, as Maharaj was departing, Galuji requested Him to complete the pending rites and moved to embrace Him. Galuji said, “Maharaj! I am in a state of sutak.” Maharaj replied, “The entire world is in a state of sutak; one who worships Me is forever pure.” Maharaj embraced him and, through His compassionate gaze, made Galuji’s name worthy of being remembered forever
