At the age of 49, Shree Hari fell severely ill. Thus, he gathered devotees, Santo, and Acharyas in Akshar Ordi (Gadhpur) to address them. He spoke to them about His efforts and achievments on Earth, such as building temples, bettering society, gifting a powerful Mahamantra, and showing countless souls the path to Moksha.
Shree Hari also explained that He enthroned Aadi Acharya Shree Raghuvirji Maharaj and Aadi Acharya Shree Ayodhyaprasadji Maharaj as His successors of authority in Vadtal and Ahmedabad respectfully. He also instructed everyone to abide by His Shikshapatri and established that even if He leaves His mortal body, He will be ever-present in satsang and with His devotees.
As Shree Hari was saying this, everyone became visibly upset and began to cry, with tears rolling down their cheeks, bodies shivering, and some even falling unconscious. Everyone was very uneasy and nervous of what was about to come next.
On the morning of Jeth Sud 10 V.S. 1886 (1830 C.E.), Shree Hari sat cross-legged inside Akshar Ordi with devotees, sadhus, and brahmacharis gathered outside. Only 4 nand santo were called inside by Shree Hari; Shree Nityanand Swami, Shree Bhajananand Swami, Shree Gopalanand Swami, and Shree Shukanand Swami. As His breaths became shorter and shorter, Shree Hari once again instructed Sadguru Shree Gopalanand Swami to look after both Acharyas.
Sadguru Shree Nityanand Swami then took Shree Hari’s hand and noticed a faint pulse and shallow heartbeats. Moments later, He had no pulse and His heart had stopped. The 4 nand santo began dhun at which point everyone outside forced themselves into the room and saw that Shree Hari had departed this world. The Satsangi Jivan ends here as it was unbearable for Sadguru Shree Shatanand Swami to continue writing.
Sadhus and devotees proceeded to take Shree Hari’s palkhi to Ghela Lake for His final rites, but the palkhi became too heavy to lift. Shree Nishkulanand Swami then realized that Shree Hari spoke highly of Laxmi Vadi and thus that is where He truly wished to be cremated. At that point, the palkhi became light and liftable. Once the pyre was ready at Laxmi Vadi, both Acharyas lighted it and began the ‘Agni Sanskar’.
As witnessing this was unimaginable, everyone broke down in tears and many even fainted. Dada Khachar tried to throw himself onto the pyre, but Shree Gopalanand Swami calmed him down and told him to go to another place within Laxmi Vadi. There, Shree Hari gave Dada Khachar darshan and told him that He will never be gone; He will always live in this satsang and in the murti of Shree Gopinathji Maharaj.
