The Defeat of the Arrogant Diwan

One morning, Ghanshyam woke up early. After completing His morning routine with the help of a barber named Susti who shaved Him, Ghanshyam headed to the sacred Narayan Sarovar for a long, refreshing bath with His father, Dharmadev. After returning home, finishing His daily prayers, and eating a hearty breakfast, Ghanshyam stepped out onto the porch.

Suvasinibai handed Him a brand-new spinning top. With the toy securely in His hand, Ghanshyam gathered His close friends—Veni, Madhav, Prag, and others—and headed straight to the village square (chora) to play.

While the children were lost in their game, a dramatic event unfolded. The local Diwan (minister) of the neighboring village of Bamanipur arrived in Chhapaiya, flanked by a large squadron of armed soldiers. The Diwan was a man consumed by immense pride. He had come to arrest a local resident named Moti Trivedi (also known as Motiram), who was actually Ghanshyam’s maternal uncle, over a minor dispute.

The soldiers seized Motiram and bound both his hands tightly with thick ropes. Seeing his uncle in distress, young Ghanshyam looked at him with a reassuring and calm gaze. In an instant, Shree Hari unleashed a flash of His divine power.

To the utter bewilderment of the Diwan, the tightly knotted ropes binding Motiram’s hands instantly snapped and fell to the ground on their own.

Suddenly, the atmosphere turned terrifying for the oppressors. Shree Hari cast a stern, wrathful glance toward the arrogant minister. In that moment, the cosmic illusion gripped the Diwan and his soldiers. They did not see a little boy; instead, they saw the terrifying, colossal figures of the Yamadutas (messengers of death) descending upon them. The Yamadutas appeared pitch-black like charcoal, heavily armed, and roaring with ferocity as they rushed to strike the Diwan’s army.

Overcome with sheer terror and staring death in the face, the proud Diwan lost all his courage. He turned and fled for his life, his army scattering in complete chaos. The pride of the oppressors was utterly crushed, and the residents of Chhapaiya rejoiced, marveling at the mysterious divine protection that had saved Motiram.

This prasang has been documented by Sadguru Shree Bhumanand Swami in Tarang 57 of Shree Ghanshyam Lilamarut Sagar.
