In the village of Kholadiyad (near Surendranagar), there lived a man named Meghji. Through years of rigorous practice, Meghji had acquired various yogic powers (sidhis), but these achievements had birthed a dangerous arrogance within his heart.
The Fall of the Ego
One day, driven by a desire to showcase his mastery, Meghji attempted to manipulate his internal life forces (pranas). However, his pride proved to be his undoing. He lost control of the delicate yogic technique, causing his internal channels (nadis) to become crushed and mangled.
He described the sensation as if his very life-breath was being squeezed like sugarcane in a press. The agony was so profound that his cries echoed throughout the entire town. Local practitioners and sidhas rushed to his aid, but they found themselves powerless; the damage was beyond any earthly or yogic remedy.
“It feels as if millions of scorpions are stinging me simultaneously in every pore of my body,” Meghji lamented.
A Plea for Mercy
As the days passed, Meghji grew frail from hunger and exhaustion. Facing the threshold of death, his ego finally shattered. He realized that his pursuit of power was hollow and that his arrogance had led him to this brink.
In a moment of raw desperation, he called for the devotees of the satsang. He begged them to bring Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan to his side, openly confessing his transgressions:
“I am a great rogue and sinner. I see now that Maharaj is the Sidha of all Sidhas. He has removed my immense pride through this suffering.”
The Divine Intervention
Moved by Meghji’s sincere change of heart and excruciating pain, Shreeji Maharaj traveled swiftly to the village. A massive crowd gathered, hushed in anticipation, wondering if Shree Hari could truly mend a man so far gone. When Maharaj arrived, he found Meghji nearly breathless, his consciousness flickering like a dying flame.
With infinite compassion, Shreeji Maharaj sat beside the dying man and placed His divine foot upon Meghji’s chest.
Restoration and Surrender
The transformation was instantaneous. The moment that Shree Hari’s foot made contact:
- The mangled nadis and life forces were restored to their proper order.
- The excruciating pain vanished entirely.
- Meghji regained full consciousness and physical strength.
Meghji stood up, his body healed and his spirit renewed, and fell at the lotus feet of Shreeji Maharaj in total surrender. Through this divine lila, Shreeji Maharaj demonstrated that He is the ultimate master of all powers and the only true refuge for those seeking liberation from the bondage of their own ego.
This prasang has been documented by Sadguru Shree Adharanand Swami in Pur 3, Tarang 39 of Shree Haricharitramrut Sagar.
