Bhaktraj Shree Mohanram

The noble Vipra (Brahmin) Mohanram was from Vadtal. At a young age, having understood the discernment between what is temporary and what is permanent, he joined the satsang. Subsequently, developing deep affection and singular faith in Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan, he dedicated his entire life to Him.

When Maharaj commenced the construction of Vadtal Mandir, He entrusted Mohanram with the responsibility of overseeing the project. This has been noted by Viharilalji Maharaj in the Shree Harililamrut:

Bolya pachhi Mohanrambhai, tatha Harishankar chitta chai |

Je je vase chhe Vadtalmay, shakti pramane karashe sahay ||

Translation: Then spoke Mohanrambhai and Harishankar with focused minds: “Whoever resides here in Vadtal will offer their help and support according to their individual strength and means.”

His spirit of surrender and seva for Vadtal Mandir was immense. When Nityanand Swami requested Mohanram, Harishankar, and Vala Dhru to travel to Dhrangadhra to procure stones for the mandir, the three devotees replied:

“Suni trane te uchcharya sujan, ame samarpya Prabhu arthe pran”

Translation: Upon hearing the request, the three wise devotees exclaimed: “We have dedicated our very lives and souls for Maharaj.”

In this manner, by following the agyna of Nityanand Swami even at the cost of their lives, they offered both their wealth and their very breath in the seva of the Swaminarayan Sampraday.
